Justice Leaguedirector Zack Snyder is all aboard theRebel Moonship, and the epic space opera movie is capturing the attention of fans all over the world. One of the most highly anticipated 2023 titles, the concept was originally pitched as aStar Warsmovie. After working on theArmy of the Deadfilm for Netflix, Snyder is looking into making more collaborations with the streaming giant.

So far, details about the movie’s plot are kept under wraps, but some important aspects of the project have been revealed. Re-recording mixer Andy Koyama, who also worked onJohn Wick: Chapter 4, shared that Snyder’s two-part narrative will have an R-rated director’s cut version.

R-Rated Version Of Zack Snyder’sRebel MoonFranchise Is Reportedly In The Works
In an interview withSlash Film, Koyama admitted that there would be an extended R-rated version of the film while discussing the current progress of the project:
“We just did the first temp mix for the preview of part one, and it’s very exciting. It’s a big, huge, space — they probably don’t want me to say this — ‘Star Wars’-y, ‘rebels against the evil empire’ thing over all sorts of different worlds. It’s really fun. There’s going to be two films. I think we’re mixing that from June to February. And there’s also going to be extended R-rated versions of each of the two films, so we’re going to be mixing four different features.”

Rebel Moonis considered by many as Zack Snyder’s ownStar Warsuniverse. The streaming giant invested a fortune in the project, which required a colossal amount given the nature of the film – a story set in the backdrop of a galaxy far away.
The tale follows Kora, an enigmatic young woman with a dark past bound to summon warriors from other planets to help defend their territory against the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius.

Zack Snyder has become more ambitious when it comes to his new projects in recent years. From his four-hour extended version of theJustice Leagueto his musings on building his ownArmy of the Dead-verse, he is exploring his options and trying to make it big. His vision in terms of filmmaking has been nothing short of grand: the gritty visuals and the cinematic appeal have always been front and center.
Rebel Moonfeatures Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Jena Malone, Cleopatra Coleman, and Fra Fee.

Rebel MoonUniverse Is Meant To Expand Its Horizon LikeStar Wars
Zack Snyder working on theRebel Moonhas been the root cause of the delay of the much-awaitedArmy of the Deadsequel. The director admitted that the story’s giant scope required his full attention. Ori Marmur, vice president of Netflix’s original studio film group, toldVarietywhy they had to split theRebel Moonfilms:
“With Rebel Moon, he wanted to push the envelope again. When we saw how big the world he created was, we thought it would be better served as two pieces versus one film. It’s the kind of story that can continue to grow. He thinks of it as his take on making something like Star Wars.”
In January, Netflix released the first official footage of the movie.Rebel Moonis set to premiere on Netflix this December 22.
