One of the major reasons why Naruto is so powerful is because he has the power of the 9-tailed fox sealed within him and as his journey in the series went on, he befriended Kurama to help him gain his strength to fight dangerous enemies. However, Kurama being sealed inside Naruto was not such a good thing for him in the beginning. Naruto was hated and shunned by his village and was treated badly. This was never the intention of Minato Namikaze, the fourth Hokage and the father of Naruto.

He wanted Naruto to learn a special technique that would help Naruto in the future and would make him a stronger shinobi in order to achieve his dream of becoming Hokage. But to this day no one knows what was that special technique.

The Special Technique Minato Wished For Naruto to Learn
According to Jiraiya, Minato sealed half of the nine-tailed fox within Naruto in the hopes that one day he would master a certain technique. The special technique in question, however, was never clearly talked about in the manga or the anime. This has sparked numerous theories, as it could be as simple as Minato wanting Naruto to eventually learn the Rasengan, but it appears that the popular assumption is that Minato was hoping Naruto would be the first to learn the tailed beast ball on his own.
As the Rasengan itself was based on the tailed beast ball, perhaps he assumed that with Kurama’s assistance, Naruto would be able to achieve what Minato himself could not. This seems like the most viable answer as it reflects on the fact that not only the tailed beast ball was an utterly powerful technique, but also it required the powers of a tailed beast to perfect the attack.

The Tailed Beast Ball Attack inNaruto
The Tailed Beast Ball is the ultimate tailed beast technique, which can also be utilized by a jinchuriki after changing properly into the tailed beast. Tailed Beast Balls are composed of an 8:2 ratio of positive black chakra to negative white chakra. Tailed Beast Balls are extremely destructive, causing explosions that may be seen from a great distance and vaporizing practically everything in the blast radius. When using his Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, Naruto may produce a Tailed Beast Ball with his hands, exactly like how he makes the Rasengan. He can also add energy from nature to his Tailed Beast Balls, which makes them more powerful and allows them to be utilized against Truth-Seeking Balls.
Naruto is probably the only one who could use and even transform the tailed beast ball into a more powerful weapon which would make the theory of Minato wanting his son to use Kurama’s power for creating a powerful attack plausible.
