That one incident invited curious speculations about the nature of their relationship. Will Smith andJada Pinkett Smithhaven’t had a traditional marriage per se. In 2009, theCollateralactress curiously said that the two weren’t in a pretend marriage. She said:

However, everyone raised their eyebrows at this statement and eventually theFocusactor admitted that he and his wife are in a sort of open marriage. Although the actor didn’t use that phrase per se, Will Smith said:
“We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison… Jada never believed in conventional marriage … Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up.”

During theRed Table Talk, both of them discussed the break in their marriage that led to Jada Pinkett Smith’s emotional entanglement with August Alsina, who is 21 years her junior.

In 2018,Will Smithclarified that he and his wife referred to each other as life partners and even said that they “don’t even say we’re married anymore.” Amid these incidences, it didn’t really surprise anyone when August Alsina claimed that he and theCleopatraproducer were involved in a relationship.

He said that theAladdinstar even gave them his blessings. The rapper said:
“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to a life partnership . . . he gave me his blessing. I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it.”
Initially, Jada Smith’s representatives denied it. But during theRed Table Talk,she admitted to it. However, the actress clarified that even though it was a relationship, it wasn’t cheating because she and her husband were on a break. However, admitting to this hasn’t stopped the jokes from coming and it probably won’t ever.
