Margot Robbie told Variety in an interview that she doesn’t think Disney is interested in further working on the project.
“We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool. But I guess they don’t want to do it.”
But Jerry Bruckheimer contradicted Robbie’s statement in the recent talk with AP Entertainment. He presented a light of hope for the spin-off project by suggesting that they are actively working on both the projects of the franchise.
“I think that that script will come forward at a certain point. We developed two different stories for Pirates, and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to attempt to get that one made.”
An announcement on a brand-newPiratesof the Caribbeanmovie will surely raise a storm on the internet. Even a small glimpse of Captain Jack Sparrow would be enough to drive the audience mad. But as the projects are still in their early stages, waiting is only the best alternative for everyone looking forward.
