Learn about the best characters for Sprints in Umamusume: Pretty Derby and how they can fit into your Team Trials setup.
Sprints are the shortest races in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, ranging from 1000 to 1400 meters. Winning these events requires a high Speed stat accompanied by ample Power and just enough Stamina to make it to the finish line.

Although the winning formula seems straightforward enough, there are surprisingly few umas (horse girls) who have an aptitude forSprint. This guide will narrow down the best characters to train for Sprint positions in your PvP team and explore their ideal running styles.
Top Sprint Characters in Umamusume: Pretty Derby for Team Trials
Silence Suzuka
AlthoughSilence Suzukaonly has a D aptitude for Sprint, she is a perfect addition to the team if built right. The primary reason for doing so is to fill in the position of a powerful Front Runner while Air Groove or Sakura Bakushin O run as Pace Chasers.
Increase her aptitude to A by finding a Legacy with seven Sprint stars in Sparks. While training Suzuka, keep in mind that her unique skill triggers only if she is leading the race at half-time, making high Wit and Front Runner skills like ‘Early Lead’ crucial for her build.
Air Groove
As with Silence Suzuka,Air Groovemay not seem suited to Sprint races at first, but her running style fits perfectly into the ideal team composition. Depending on the other trainees you have available, you can decide the training strategy for Air Groove.
For example, if you have Silence Suzuka as Front Runner and Sakura Bakushin O as Pace Chaser, Air Groove can bring up the rear as a Late Surger. With her high Power bonus, the empress fits into the Late Surger style perfectly. While training her, slot two Power cards in the support deck and focus the rest on Speed. Be sure to add the powerful Late Surger-exclusive skills to her arsenal.

Sakura Bakushin O
Sakura Bakushin Ois the most popular choice for Sprints in PvP. With a bonus in Speed and Wit, she makes for an ideal Front Runner. However, it is better to fill the Pace Chaser slot with her since few others step into that role as well as she does. While Taiki Shuttle may seem like a good Pace Chaser for Sprints, she will provide greater value in your Dirt race or Mile team.
King Halois best suited for the Late Surger role in Sprints. Her unique ability activates if she is below third place in the final 200m, providing a dramatic boost to speed. While training King Halo as a Late Surger, focus on Power, Speed, and moderately on Guts for a dramatic final surge.
