In an old interview withVariety, the Green Goblin actor opened up about how he ended up in MCU. For the unversed, the actor already had a strong portfolio back then however he was interested in the idea which came out at the time.

“Initially, what attracted me to it was Sam Raimi and just this fairly new idea of making a film out of these comic book characters.”

While his character came to an end in 2007 with a cameo appearance, he reprised his role in Tom Holland’sSpider-Manversion in the 2021 film,Spider-Man: No Way Home.

He was surprised when he learned about his comeback in the franchise.

“I thought I was finished. When they initially said, ‘Would you like to reprise this role?’ I thought, ‘Really? How does that happen?’ I was kind of stupid about it.”

After walking through the entire concept, he eventually signed for it. Talking withInverse, he shared about feeling contended as he played“a double role both times. Twenty years ago, and fairly recently, both times [were] very different experiences, but I had a good time on both.”
