Marvel’s Spider-Man2andStarfield.The two games that everyone is talking about. EvenTears of theKingdomdidn’t cause this much buzz on the run up to its release, and that game is great. With every passing day we seem to find out something new about the two games, and with each passing day we get a little closer, but the wait feels just as long.

Starfield

Some certain people don’t need to wait though. There’s those in Bethesda that of course have been playing the game a huge amount over the last few months. You’ve got the developers, the play-testers and then Pete Hines and Phil Spencer. Now Pete Hines is no surprise to have the game early on his own account. Todd Howard has bragged about doing the same, having reportedly played the game for triple-digit hours already. However, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has evidently used his power and title to get in on the really early access, as it has been spotted that he too has been playing the game.

Starfield is all the Rage Right Now

Starfieldis going to be massive. Not just with its content of course, although that’s going to be massive to, with over one thousand planets, one hundred of which are going to support life, but the game itself is going to be massive in pop culture.

As with the releases of theFablefranchise back in the day,Starfieldis being touted as revolutionary to the western-RPG. With huge scope, new gameplay mechanics, refined and mastered mechanics for the genre and more besides,Starfieldhas a lot to live up to.

With all the furore going on around Microsoft and its merger with Activision Blizzard, the game represents more any other game in the last few years. It represents a second chance and a major boost in hardware sales for the platform, and with the upcoming slate of exclusive releases, it could be the springboard that Microsoft and Xbox desperately need.

Maybe that’s why Xbox’s CEO of Gaming, Phil Spencer has been lucky enough to get his hands on it. With everything at stake maybe he’s going the extra mile to ensure a relatively smooth and flawless launch for the Xbox’s most important exclusive. Or perhaps, just like everyone else, he’s really excited to be able to play it, and unlike all of us, he’s able to use his position to enable him a few extra days of access. Or a couple of months at this point.

Who knows? One thing is for sure though, he’s not making it a secret he’s playing it. He could have played it on a different, local account to keep it secret, but no, he’s playing it on his public profile for all to see, and thankfully, someone did. As reported by Idle Sloth, we can see that both Phil Spencer and Bethesda’s Pete Hines have been playingStarfield,as well as a third, unknown profile.

If nothing else, this shows that even though the game is still being worked on, there is a concrete, playable build right now. The last thing we want is yet another delay to the game, so this should put pay to any worries there. It also should indicate that for the most part, Bethesda are happy with the current state of the game, and rather than any sweeping changes, these last few months till release will be spent as they should, with tiny finishing flourishes on what should be a Game of the Year challenging title.

What do you make of all this though? Are you jealous of them having early access? Are you going to be picking upStarfieldon release? Let us know in the comments!
