Robert Pattinsonwas no stranger to telling fibs to bag roles during his initial years in Hollywood, and this did come back to haunt him in certain cases, with the most prominent one beingHarry Potter. Pattinson, who lacked adequate swimming skills at the time, lied about swimming to star inGoblet of Fireand got himself in some serious bother during the filming of the swimming sequence in the movie. The actor further opened up about his reason for“making stuff up all the time”, while reflecting on the consequences that arrived with it. PerIndieWire, he said,

“I think also a lot of the people who are drawn to acting when they’re younger are people who really like bullshitting and you have no qualms about bullshitting to anybody,”he said.“Once you start getting known, then it’s like, ‘Oh, my entire social ability was based on just making stuff up all the time.’ And now, there’s consequences for making stuff up.”

Fixated on keeping his audition forThe Batmana secret, Robert Pattinson resorted to faking a family emergency during his time on the sets of Tenet to get to the audition. However,Christopher Nolan, who revived the IP back in the mid-2000s, wasn’t deceived by Pattinson’s tactics, as he proceeded to call him out on his lie. Pattinson recalled the hilarious incident, saying (viaThe Irish Times),

“I had to keep everything about ‘Batman’ a secret, so I had to lie to Nolan when I went for an audition. I told him I had a family emergency. And, as soon as I said ‘it’s a family emergency,’ he said, ‘You’re going to cast ‘Batman,’ right?”
