However,X-MenStar Patrick Stewart wasn’t too optimistic about the British actor’s Hollywood career back when they came across in the early 2000s.

While it is pretty well-known theVenomStar isn’t pretty fond of the media spotlight, his reclusive behavior on sets became a matter of concern for his costars back during his initial years in Hollywood.

Patrick Stewart Thought Tom Hardy Wouldn’t Survive in Hollywood
In 2002, one of the weakest entries in theStar Trekfranchise hit the screens, andPatrick Stewarthas been pretty vocal about his issues with the movie, stating that he had nothing exciting to do in it. Opposite to Stewart starred a youngTom Hardy, who made his onscreen debut a year prior inBlack Hawk Down, and played the role of theStar Trek: Nemesis‘ villain Shinzon. But theMacbethStar doesn’t share food memories of his costar, as while recounting his experience of the actor, Stewart recalled that Hardy was pretty reclusive and“wouldn’t engage with any of us on a social level”.
Following his odd solitary persona throughout the filming process ofStar Trek: Nemesis, theLoganStar predicted Hardy might not make it big in showbiz. In his memoir,Making It So(viaInsider), Stewart explained,

“On the evening Tom wrapped his role, he characteristically left without ceremony or niceties, simply walking out of the door, As it closed, I said quietly to Brent and Jonathan, ‘And there goes someone I think we shall never hear of again”
But as the story goes,Star Trek: Nemesiswasn’t a career killer forThe RevenantStar, as Hardy eventually found his footing in Hollywood and has enjoyed great success since the 2010s.

Patrick Stewart Is Happy to Be Proven Wrong
Patrick Stewart’s prediction about Tom Hardy’s career couldn’t have been more wrong, as he is now one of the biggest names in showbiz. Reflecting on theMad MaxStar’s ascend to the top, theX-MenStar expressed that he is delighted to be proven wrong. Hewrote:
“t gives me nothing but pleasure that Tom has proven me so wrong.”
