Teardownmay have already enjoyed success on PC since its launch in 2022, but now players can enjoy it on consoles for the first time. Available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as of tomorrow (15 November), this indie puzzle game is sure to be a hit with console players as much as those who have enjoyed it on PC so far.

Teardown

At the time of writing,Teardownis listed as overwhelmingly positive in terms of reviews on Steam, and it is easy to see why. The concept and gameplay of this sandbox game are a major draw, and when watching the recent console reveal trailer, it may become clear as to why this game may enjoy the same success on console as it has since its launch last year.

Teardown Is a Game That We Should All Be Playing

However, this is not Wilson’s first foray into video games, having provided voice talent for the 2006 gameCarsand its subsequent follow-up in 2014,Cars: Fast as Lightning. Not forgetting theLego The Incrediblesgame of 2018, where Wilson again reprises the role of Lightning McQueen, but the man with one of the most recognizable one-word catchphrases of all time delivers a brilliant take on whatTeardownis all about.

As you’re able to no doubt expect, the fan reaction to Owen Wilson narrating theTeardownconsole launch trailer was hilarious, with many fans simply commenting ‘Wow‘ in reference to that famous catchphrase. Other fans went further by saying that it was such a great marketing tool that they would buy the game based on Wilson’s endorsement alone. Money well spent by the marketing team.

Teardown

The indie game was developed by the Swedish company Tuxedo Labs and was the brainchild of Dennis Gustaffson. Having wound down his previous company Mediocre in 2017, Gustaffson looked for a new challenge and saw this in destructible environments, calling on former colleague Emil Bengtsson to help develop.

After spending the following years developing the game and sharing regular updates through social media, Gustaffson was able to dismiss traditional marketing methods, and afterTeardown’sannouncement in 2019, the excitement for the game grew. Partially released on early access in 2020 and the follow-up chapter in 2021, fans were delighted when the full game was released in 2022.

There are various puzzle modes inTeardown, and players can use all manner of weapons to destroy their surroundings. Further weapons can be unlocked as players progress through the campaign, and although there is a substantial heist concept to the game, players must be cautious to avoid the law. Endless hours of fun await those who embrace their destructive side and look forward to demolition on a grand scale.

There is no doubt that fans will be happy to hear that Tuxedo Labs will continue to supportTeardownand have plans for constant updates and plenty of DLC to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. Reading between the lines, the team is looking to maintain the longevity of this game for as long as possible and maybe compete with other well-known block games.
