Sydney Sweeney teases fans on the upcomingSpider-ManspinoffMadame Web, claiming it will feature a “powerhouse of badass females.” The actress rose to fame for her role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s teen drama seriesEuphoria, and now she’s about to star in her first-ever Marvel project.

While fans will have to wait a little longer for the movie’s premiere, Sweeney expresses her anticipation for the film and talks about her experience working on the set. It was revealed earlier that she will play Julia Carpenter, although some of her co-stars’ roles remain undisclosed.

In an interview withTotal FilmviaGamesRadar,Sydney Sweeneycould not help but praise the entire team which consists of mainly female cast:

“I couldn’t be more excited. I can’t wait to be able to talk about it. I can’t wait to be able to be next to the girls that I filmed with – Dakota and Isabela, and Celeste. We had so much fun together. And I’m really excited that it’s just gonna be a powerhouse of badass females for the world to see.”

The 25-year-old actress also confessed her fondness for comic book movies since childhood:

“Superheroes have been my entire life! Those [films] are all my parents ever wanted to go see. I think I’ve seen The Avengers probably 20, 30-plus times. My family, they love [them]… I could not have made them happier choosing to do that project [Madame Web].”

Sweeney will be portraying Julia Carpenter, famously known as the second Spider-Woman who took over the mantle of Jessica Drew inMarvel Comics. The character debuted in 1984’sSecret Wars#6 and was created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck.

“I can’t really say anything about my character, but I’m very excited. My first Marvel movie. So it’s been a lot of fun, a lot of training, and just prep work to get into it.”

Known as Sony’s next big superhero franchise after theSpider-Mantrilogy andVenommovies,Madame Webstars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Web, a terminally ill mutant whose clairvoyant abilities allow her to get a glimpse of the “spider world.” The cast also includes Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Zosia Mamet, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.

What Could Fans Expect From Sony’sMadame WebPlot?

Madame Web’s lead starDakota Johnsononce told in an interview that the Marvel film was unlike anything she has done before (viaVariety):

“It was a wild experience. I don’t think you may be prepped to go into anything like that, but I learned so much. It’s a completely different way of making films, you know.”

Although fans know what roles Johnson and Sweeney will be playing, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding the movie’s plot. One rumor claims it will have aTerminator-like story where Madame Web will use her powers to prevent a time-traveling villain from killing Mary Parker and her unborn child. Sony is yet to confirm this report.
