Needless to say, fans were quick to come up with their own theories about the plots, cast, and crew of the announced projects. As if all of this buzz wasn’t enough, James Gunn fuelled the fire a little bit more by changing his banner on Twitter to that of a picture of Superman from theSuperman: Space Agecomic. Is this act a little Easter egg for what’s to come or is it just a banner?

Although there is no confirmation about it yet, there are rumors about him directing the film, after all.

And now with the new and updated banner on Twitter that flaunts numerous Supermen on it, Gunn has again piqued the curiosity of us all.  Is this his way of hinting that he is surely going to be the director ofSuperman: Legacy,or does it go beyond that?

The Superman from the banner belongs to the comic series,Superman: Space Agewritten by Mark Russell. While the comic sees Clark Kent, a Daily Planet reporter, finding out that the world is going to meet its end pretty soon, it also ties intoCrisis on Infinite Earths,a multiverse catastrophe. So, is Gunn planning on creating aSpider-Man: No Way Home-likeproject centered on the superhero from Planet Krypton? If he does, then fromBrandon RouthtoHenry Cavillto the new and upcoming Superman, the idea of all of them showing up for the movie would be an insane watch! A big bucks movie if you ask us!

James Gunn’s Hands are Full at the Moment

While the idea of a Superman multiverse seems intriguing, a project of the same could be a thing of the far, far future. Why? Well, between running the DC Studios to preparing the newly announced slate, Gunn does not have a lot of time on his hands, as of now. In his own words,

“I only have one me. And I only have seven days in the week, all of which are used in the service of DC storytelling.”

However, that doesn’t mean that Gunn is burned out in any way. He mentioned that he has written a part of the new slate’s storylines, including the outline ofThe Authorityand all seven episodes ofCreature Commandos. He stated that he can definitely “write more.”

It doesn’t look like the filmmaker minds being submerged up to his neck in DCU. As he stated, he cannot do anything with science or politics, he can definitely spend all his time creating stories. That’s exactly what he plans to do for the next eight to ten years. It’s pretty clear where Gunn’s priorities lie. With his plate being a bit too full at the moment, a Superman multiverse doesn’t seem like the best idea for now. After all, we don’t want him to bite off more than he can chew.
