This game’s Creation Club update hasn’t randomly appeared out of the blue because director Todd Howard has repeatedly discussed it in the past as well, for example, on the Lex Fridman podcast or during a conversation with Kinda Funny. According to Howard, Bethesda is fully committed to making the game’s world as big as possible, and it will also act as a huge blank canvas for players to go all out on with endless possibilities. To empower the individual creators even further, the studio will also involve itself in the whole process so that they also get paid for their modded work.

While engaging with the community on Reddit around two years ago, Howard explained that the “plan” is to giveStarfield“full mod support” similar to Bethesda’s previous titles. He said that Bethesda’s “modding community” has been active for a long time now and that the team absolutely loves the creativity that comes pouring out of the fans, while also hoping “to see more make a career out of it.”

But the current rise in online multiplayer shooters will never really appeal to his old-school self.
