The Summer season has kicked off early as PlayStation has officially announced a date for this year’s PlayStation Showcase. The event will kick off next week on Wednesday the 24thof May with a start time of 1 pm PT/4 pm ET and 9 pm BST.

According to theannouncement blog on the PlayStation website, the showcase will be:“focusing on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios from around the world.”The PlayStation Showcase is also said to last up to an hour and will be streamed live on PlayStation’s officialTwitchandYouTubechannels.

Although PlayStation usually hosts conferences surrounding upcoming first and third-party releases in the form of their State of Play streams, the upcoming event will be the first PlayStation Showcase the gaming giant has done in two years.

Although details as to what is going to appear at the event are sparse, by taking a look at the 2021 showcase line-up that included reveals likeGod of War: Ragnarök, Marvels: Spider-Man 2and The Wolverine Game, Sony could be ready to come out swinging with some of their hard-hitting first-party titles.

On the tech side of things many a fan will be wondering with baited breath whether the rumours of a possible PS5 Slim or PS5 “Ultra” console will come true.
