Through the fantasy world of unrivaled wizards and magical potions, Emma Watson discovered the much-coveted path to the gleaming chambers of recognition and success. The billion-dollar franchise of theHarry Potterfilm series landed the English actress smack dab in the middle of international fame, albeit she wasn’t the biggest fan of that relentless spotlight.

Portraying the prodigious witch, Hermione Granger, in eight flourishing installments adapted from J.K. Rowling’s renowned novel series certainly did wonders for Watson’s career. Keeping the materialistic aspect of it aside though, what the actress truly cherished was the heartwarming relationships she’d made with her co-stars during her time in theHarry Potterfranchise, friendships that have survived the test of time and the blaze of aggressive kisses.

Emma Watson: A Young Hermione Granger Who Doubled As A Feisty Kisser

Emma WatsonandDaniel Radcliffemight have started as co-stars in theHarry Pottermovies, but their equation soon blossomed into a full-fledged friendship that the two seem to have maintained to this very day. Perhaps their conspicuously platonic relationship behind the scenes was also a major reason why they never melted into a more romantic dyad on screen. Sure, Harry and Hermione cared about each other acutely, but their affections seldom materialized into anything more intimate, at least not in the films. TheHarry Potterbooks, on the other hand, depict a white-hot rush of chemistry between the two, something which Potterheads wished would’ve transpired on-screen as well.

Even the one scene where the pair ended up sharing a sizzling kiss inHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1was simply a manifestation of a Horcrux and not because they had the hots for each other, although it sure looked like it. The backstory of that scene, contrary to the passionate affair on-screen, happens to be quite hilarious. Talking about the same on ITV’sDaybreak Morning Show, Radcliffe admitted that he’d never anticipated Watson to kiss him as if her life depended on it, because that’s how it felt. Not that he was complaining.

“I always thought it was going to be this soft sensual sort of moment, and suddenly there was this vigorous kissing happening to me,”The Lost Citystar said.“She is a bit of an animal. But then, I’m not complaining. There are tens of thousands of men that would cut off limbs to be in that position.”

But the feelings Watson poured into the kiss didn’t come from a place of lust or passion, it was actually the prospect of awkward tension that encouraged her to be bold and unfeeling.

What Went on in Emma Watson’s Head Before Her Kiss With Daniel Radcliffe

Both Radcliffe and Watson maintained a strictly platonic equation with each other on the set, so when they were told to go topless for a kissing scene in the 2010 film, the latter got seized by panic. Worried that it might end up tarnishing their friendship with an air of awkwardness, theBeauty and the Beaststar decided to jump right into it without giving it much thought.

“I guess I was just so worried about it coming across as awkward as I felt it was inside that I just wanted to make it as real as I could,”Watson, 33, revealed in an interview withJoBlo.“So I guess I just went for it?”Luckily for her though, her co-star didn’t make a fuss about any of it and eased the tension with humor.“Dan is very funny and talkative and we could just have a laugh about it,”she remarked.

Nothing a dash of humor and deflection can’t fix!
