Pete Docter wishes to create more real stories for the audiences

Docter was questioned in the interview about his views on the assumption that audiences favor existing IPs and aren’t as interested in new and original characters likeLucaandThe Good Dinosaur. In response to this question,Pixar’s54-year-old Chief said he wants viewers to step outside of their comfort zone and watch original stories. According to him, viewers like to see something they are already aware of. Docter said,

“Right now, the world seems to want the comfort of what they know, which is sequels, and movies based on things like comic books or video games. But all of these things were original at one point. I think it’s essential for us to develop new original stories, which are harder to publicize, harder to get people excited to go see them. “
