Bandai Namco is set to release the new entry in theDragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichiseries over a decade since the release of theTenkaichi Tag Teamon PS Portable. The first look ofSparkling Zerohas massively resurged the interest in DB games, gaining overall positive comments from fans on social media.

TheBudokai Tenkaichiseries was primarily created for PlayStation 2 devices. The first installment was released in 2005, and the second and third were released in consecutive years. In 2010, theTenkaichi Tag Teamwas a success but was limited to PSPs and didn’t make it to the consoles.

Fans can now rejoice because the upcomingSparkling Zerovideo game will be available on multiple popular platforms, including Steam for PC gamers.

During the Game Awards on June 09, 2025, Bandai Namco dropped the first trailer forDragon Ball Sparkling Zero.Instantly gaining the attention of fans were the words “A New Budokai Tenkaichi Begins.” The game has the classic Budokai mechanics that made the series famous among PlayStation 2 users and iconic characters from the franchise.

Goku and Vegeta in Dragon Ball Sparkling Zero

The trailer features Goku and Vegeta battling amidst rocky mountains, throwing punches, and powering up Kamehamehas. Boasting graphics better than its previous installments, the first look ofSparkling Zerohas confirmed several characters in the roster, including Cell, Anrdoid 18, Krillin, Frieza, Yamcha, and Jiren.

Dragon Ball Sparkling Zerowill be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, and on PC via Steam. Players can wishlist the game from the Stores although there is no official release date for the title. A second trailer is expected to be dropped as 2023 comes to a close.

When To ExpectDragon Ball SparklingZero?

Considering that the previous Budokai Tenkaichii games were released in the last three months of the year,Dragon Ball Sparkling Zerois expected to hit the market anytime between October to December 2024. Bandai Namco is most probably going to aim for the holiday season.

Dragon Ballhas been returning to its roots in both the video game and the manga industry. In the latestSupermanga by Akira Toriyama, Frieza has returned to challenge Goku and Vegeta. More iconic villains and heroes from the franchise such as Son Goku and Saiyan Vegeta are expected to return in the series.

According to theofficial website of the game, “Sparking! ZERO has an incredible number of playable characters, each with signature abilities, transformations, and techniques.” The 3D game will feature planet-razing attacks and earth-shattering abilities characteristic of the previous Budokai titles.
