Despite no teaser footage for the upcomingLokiseries on Disney+, fans have been given a taster for theMarvelseries soon to hit the streaming service with thecastingof Owen Wilson in a major undisclosed role.
This casting news follows the rumored casting of Sophia Di Martino back in November. Not many details have been revealed about the series but we do know that it will focus on Loki’s new timeline after escaping the Battle of New York’s aftermath with the Tesseract duringAvengers: Endgame.
Lokiis expected to be the third in a current slate of eight Marvel shows based on or introducing characters tied in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the upcomingThe Falcon and the Winter SoldierandWandaVision.
WhileWandaVisionis expected to tie-in to the upcomingDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we exclusively revealed that Loki will tie into Thor: Love & Thunder.
Rumors surrounding the upcomingLokiseries involve the inclusion of Loki’s two most famous incarnations from the comics, Lady Loki and Kid Loki.

Production on the upcoming series is set to begin soon with MCU veteran Tom Hiddleston returning as the Trickster God after his death in 2018’sAvengers: Infinity Warand timeline remnant escaping during 2019’sAvengers: Endgame.
Michael Waldron has been hired as the series’ head writer, while Kate Herron has been announced as the series’ director.
Other Disney+ Marvel original shows coming to the streaming service areHawkeye,Ms. Marvelwhich will introduce comic-book fan-favorite Kamala Khan to the MCU,Moon Knightset to be Marvel’s answer to Batman, and She-Hulk which will bring in Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters as the titular gamma-radiated superheroine.
Lokiis scheduled to be released on Disney+ in early 2021.
