Following the success ofHiFi Rush, which at the time of writing has seen 3 million players, Microsoft have confirmed that they intend to reinvest in the company. Which really is amazing news, as we need more unique titles like that.

What’s being said about Tango Gameworks?

Jeff Grubb recently took to Social Media advising of what was being said by Microsoft and their thoughts on Tango Gameworks;

“Microsoft is very very very happy with that studio, they like that studio a lot and they are reinvesting in it and they and they care a lot about that studio having a bright future”

So going by these comments we can only assume that if Microsoft are reinvesting in the company, they intend to give them as much help as they can to develop further smash hits likeHiFi Rushand that this will be no short-term collaboration.

The company which was founded back in 2010 in Tokyo is maybe best known for releasing horror titles but broke the mould with the release ofHiFi Rushin January of this year. Previously Tango Gameworks had released the amazing survival horror titleThe Evil Withinin 2014 and followed this up in 2017 with the sequelThe Evil Within 2. Following these wasGhostwire: Tokyoin 2022 which was seen as more of an action adventure game than the previous horror instalments.

And it was following the release ofThe Evil Within 2in 2017 that Tango Gameworks Director John Johanas confirmed that, although they knew they were developingGhostwire: Tokyo, he wanted to work on something a little different.

“Just from a personal standpoint, I felt like I needed a palate cleanser.”

And different it was. Johanas went on to say that because they were a studio most known for horror titles, there was a lot of doubt in his head about whether the title would be approved. And no doubt the idea of having an action game but having it synced to music, did sound like a risky pitch at the time.

“This is the most un-Bethesda game you may possibly imagine”

But fast forward 7 months andHiFi Rushhas seen millions of players and Microsoft are so impressed that they are re-investing in the company. The inevitable question that we should all be asking is, what are they planning next? And we can only hope that whatever it is, it’s a big a hit as the other Tango Gameworks titles.
