After the legendary Stan Lee’s cameos in the MCU movies, another hilarious cameo celebrated by fans was that of Matt Damon. TheGood Will Huntingstar played an Asgardian actor portraying Loki in bothThor: RagnarokandThor: Love and Thunder. Fans believe he could make a compelling addition to a main role in the MCU. Interestingly, Marvel also shared the sentiment when they approached him to play the villain Quentin Beck / Mysterio inSpider-Man: Far from Home.

The MCU has entered its fifth phase, and numerous comic book characters have graced the screen or are yet to appear in the films. Matt Damon could seamlessly fit into the universe, potentially taking on one of these three Marvel characters.

Scott Summers a.k.a Cyclops
Matt Damonwas one of the initial choices for Cyclops inX-Men. However, he was beaten to the role byJames Marsden. Cyclops, envisioned as the successor to Charles Xavier and the leader of the X-Men, was killed off in the thirdX-Menfilm. Despite the character’s potential for a more significant role,Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine took center stage, overshadowing Marsden’s Scott Summers.
During this period, Damon proved his star power in theBournefranchise. It’s conceivable that theDownsizingactor wouldn’t have let Wolverine steal his spotlight had he been cast in the role. With the X-Men characters making their official entry into MCU films, includingKelsey Grammer’s Beast, Cyclops is expected to return to the screen. A surprising twist could unfold if Marsden opts not to return, and Marvel turns to Damon for this character.

The Beyonder
If Marvel considers moving away from the Kang storyline, their next alternative lies in exploring the Beyonder and Doom storylines from the comics. The Beyonder in the comics is a trickster and a ‘child’ of the Beyonder race. This character could potentially assume a significant role if the MCU chooses to expand the cinematic franchise beyondAvengers: Secret Wars. The role presents a perfect opportunity to leverage Matt Damon’s killer sense of humor, that too in a villain role.
The Beyonder creates the Battleworld, where the multiversal war happens inSecret Warscomics. After the events ofSecret Wars, Beyonder takes a human form to live among humans and study them. But, he eventually becomes a big threat to the multiverse. If the story is fleshed out properly and if audiences love to see more of Marvel, Damon could potentially make a retirement fortune out of his role as The Beyonder.
