Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, release of the year. In a year filled with AAA releases like the highly anticipatedAlan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed: Mirageand the Xbox exclusiveStarfield, fans are understandably excited about the upcoming winter gaming season. Whether or not we all have time to get everything in is another matter, of course.

Thankfully, some developers seem to be aware of how precious our time actually is, and so have implemented a pre-load status for games, where, whilst you’re able to’t play them prior to release, you can download them ready to go for when it ticks over to release day.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Pre-load Date and Details
Insomniac Games is one of these developers, and in truth, it’s seen as bad taste if this isn’t something a developer is doing these days, especially for AAA releases. No-one wants to be waiting for the game to install/download when they should be playing it!
Thanks to a screenshot shared by Twisted Voxel, we now knowMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’spre-load date will be on Friday, October 13 at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST, pretty much an entire week before release. Actual download size of the game is unknown, but it has been reported that the game will be releasing on one disc, meaning it’ll be under 100GB, at least before any inevitable day one patches.

News surrounding the game seems to constantly be dropping as we get closer to release, but before that, we have confirmation thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will be making an appearance at Marvel’s annual San Diego Comic-Con appearance. What surprising details they have left to share with us is anyone’s guess, as they seem to be spoiling us with a plethora of additions to the franchise.

Being the third game in the franchise the pressure was on to take what the developers had learned from the previous two games, and make this one bigger, better and even more true to the character. So far, they seem to be delivering on those aims, as they’ve announced a huge map with additional districts Brooklyn and Queens, individual skill trees for the two Spider-Men, as well as the ability to swap between them at a whim.
That’s all without mentioning the elephant in the room of Venom, or the fact we’ll be getting Peter and his new symbiote suit as a gameplay mechanic, showing off an entirely new, highly aggressive combat style. Insomniac Games have admitted that the host of Venom in their universewon’tbe Eddie Brock, instead wanting to tell their own story. This does leave us with the question as to who the host will be, and fans seem to disagree on the answer.

Either way, are you looking forward to the release ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2?How early will you be pre-loading it? Let us know in the comments!
