Marvel’s upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four needs a villain, and it will make perfect sense for it to be their greatest nemesis: Doctor Doom. There are more than a few actors who could essay the role of the Latvarian monarch, but there is one key feature that this actor will need to possess.

Doctor Doom Fantastic Four

Among Dr. Doom’s defining features, except for his armor, is the pair of eyes that he possesses. It requires a great amount of intensity to convey the character and his story through just his eyes, and many might consider this to be nearly impossible. However, given the right actor, we believe the role can be aptly pulled off. Hence, here are 5 names that we think can pull off the role of Victor Von Doom.

Mads Mikkelsen

Mads Mikkelsen

Mads Mikkelsen has already distinguished himself as a Grade A villain actor in Doctor Strange (2016), where he played the character of Kaecilius. The actor has also been in talks to return to the MCU in the form of Doctor Victor Von Doom, who also has a background in magic and sorcery, albeit mitigated by technology. Mikkelson, as we have suggested, has a set of eyes that betray intense emotions, making him a great choice to play the Latverian monarch.

Daniel Craig

While almost being a part of the MCU in the form of Baldur the Brave, Daniel Craig has a set of peepers that would make him the perfect Victor Von Doom. Apart from his beautiful eyes, Craig has proven himself to be more than a distinguished actor, having played James Bond for many years and having starred in Rian Johnson’s hit detective films of the Knives Out franchise. Not only will the actor be able to project the menace that Doom brings to the table, but he will be able to do so from behind a mask.

Michael Fassbender

As the X-Men make their way into the MCU, several characters have been returning to reprise their roles in Fox’s X-Men universe. While Fassbender might return to take on the role of a younger Magneto, it would be a great addition to the MCU if his talents were put towards translating Doctor Doom to the silver screen. Not a stranger to playing villains with complex motivations, politically motivated and straightforward in his views, Fassbender could kill it as Doctor Doom, battling the Fantastic Four, but also joining forces with them when a bigger threat arrives to take over Earth.

James McAvoy

In a similar situation as the previous entrant on this list, McAvoy too has a stunning set of peepers that could aid him in essaying the role of Victor Von Doom. Having played characters like Lord Asriel in HBO’s His Dark Materials, McAvoy certainly can play at the nuance required for the character of Doctor Doom, who has a history of tangling with the Fantastic Four not only in the battle of fists but also being an intellectual rival to Reed Richards.

Cillian Murphy

Cillian Murphy as a fan cast for Doctor Doom has been a part of the conversation around the Fantastic Four for quite some time. The actor can act with just his eyes, as seen in this year’s blockbuster epic historical drama from Christopher Nolan,Oppenheimer. The actor is also largely known for his intense and dramatic roles, a wealth of experience that could contribute to his case for Doctor Doom, which could be the boost that the franchise needs for today.
