The cost ofLoki‘s (Season 2) production has been revealed, which showcases how much Disney and Marvel Studios are investing in the follow-up to the successful first season.

The budget forLoki(Season 2) amounts to $141.3 million. This season has six episodes, costing roughly $23.5 million per episode. That’s pretty much in line with most other shows, except for one –Secret Invasion.
Yes, the budget ofSecret Invasionwas $212 million, which is not just a shocking amount at baseline, but particularly shocking if you know that the series was a flop. Despite its promising elements, such as being part of the MCU and featuring award-winning actors and a talented cast,Secret Invasionfailed to meet expectations, leading to disappointing Rotten Tomatoes ratings.

Considering the success ofLoki, the Marvel Cinematic Universe solo spinoff on Disney+, gained a lot of fans during its six-episode debut season, but now the budget for its second season is a matter of debate. Fans criticize MCU on X (formerly known as Twitter) for investing inSecret Invasioninstead ofLoki(Season 2).
Loki deserved a bigger budget instead of Secret Invasion

MCU Invested Double the Budget ofLoki(Season 2) in Flop Series
Over eight years,Game of Thronesaired 73 episodes. Its initial budget for Season 1 was $50-$60 million, about $5-$6 million per episode, which is lower than each episode ofLoki (Season 2). The $5-6 million (budget for each episode) remained the same for the first fiveGame of Thronesseasons, except for the “Blackwater” episode in season 2. It needed more development which led to an additional $2.5 million request. HBO offered $2 million, bringing the cost of that particular single episode to $8 million.

Disney has revealed that it has invested $141.3 million into pre-production and filming ofLoki‘s second season. This substantial investment aims to prop up Marvel Studios after facing critical acclaim and commercial performance challenges.

Mobius, Hunter B-15, and other members of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to navigate the multiverse to find Sylvie, Ravonna Renslayer, and Miss Minutes.
