Disneyphiles be ready to cry as the House of Mouse ismoving forwardwith another “live-action” remake and this time the target is the 1941 classicBambi.

Live Action Disney Movies Bambi

Disney have had success with their strategy that began largely through the 2010s in turning beloved animated classics from the Disney Vaults into live-action adaptations, with said success ranging from moderate to high. However, while the strategy has been met with mixed reviews and even some fatigue of late, it does not seem like the juggernaut studio has plans to end creating these remakes as not only will there be a live-actionMulancoming out this year, but also aThe Little Mermaidremake is in-development and nowBambiwill hope to have the success that both 2016’sThe Jungle Bookand 2019’sThe Lion Kinghad as this will be the studio’s third CGI “live-action” movie and the second to be completely CG-rendered afterThe Lion King.

Bambi, as most fans remember it for, is a movie about a newborn fawn who the movie follows learning about the world until one fateful night when his mother is cruelly taken away from him by the actions of Man and he is then raised by his father who is also the guardian of the forest making our young protagonist a prince of sorts.

With such an iconic moment as Bambi’s mother’s death still remembered as one of the saddest and child-mortifying moments in Disney history, the pressure will be on for screenwriters Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer as well as the as yet unknown director to duplicate those same moving emotions for the remake.

Due to that fact that no human characters were ever properly seen in the animated movie, instead either being heard or only partially visible, it is unknown if any human characters will feature prominently in this movie in the same way 2019’s live-actionDumbodid or if this will simply be a full CG-rendered movie with no on-screen actors present.

As mentioned earlier the Disney live-action slate is currently quite crowded moving forward, not only willMulanhope to deliver a faithful adaptation both for fans of the original animated movie and the Chinese legend this year, but alsoThe Little Mermaid, Pinocchioand most recentlySnow White and the Seven Dwarfshave all been announced to be receiving the live-action treatment.

Considering the box office success and buzz these live-action adaptations have generated for the Mouse House, dating back to 2010 withAlice in Wonderlandbeing one of the first movies to make $1 billion, to as recently as last year when bothAladdinandThe Lion Kingjoined it and 2017’sBeauty and the Beast, it is clear that Disney shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
