“It drives you crazy,”the actress and producer toldEsquire.“When I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable. And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get.” Bullock initially took that as a sign of confusion on her co-star’s part, assuming that theJohn Wickstar’s silence meant she’d offended him somehow. But it was just Reeves taking his sweet time to ponder upon whatever theMiss Congenialityactress had told him.

While the two never got around to giving the whole dating thing a whirl, the Academy Award-winning actress believed that they might’ve just been able to make it out as a couple had things panned out in a different way.“Maybe we could have survived,”Bullock remarked.“The longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being.”

Even after working together in a romantic film though, neither of them was able to express the feelings for each other that they’d bottled up sinceSpeed.
