As James Gunn and Peter Safran join DC Studios as the two new heads, all the creative aspects of direction with regard to DC, be it films or television, will fall under the radar of the duo. Of course, they will be reporting to the CEO of WB, David Zaslav as well. But that’s not the only entity they will be referring to

The Rock had very subtly hinted to fans about a major change in plans while he was promoting his filmBlack Adamby saying that there is going to be a vivid change in the hierarchy of the DC Universe, implying that titles and positions in the franchise were about to get altered. Turns out the change he was pointing out was that the new heads at DC Studios, with all the power they bear, are going to have to get a green light from the filmmakers as one of the first acts as CEOs.
James Gunn and Peter Safran need to win over the filmmakers
Just a few days ago,Guardians of the GalaxydirectorJames Gunnalong with theShazam! Fury of the GodsdirectorPeter Safranbecame DC’s co-chairman and CEO. And this could easily be considered a very important chess piece that DC recently moved across the game board.

But while Gunn and Safran will be at the helm of all the films, TV shows, and animated series that involve DC’s superheroes, the two have a much more imperative job to do before taking over all the responsibilities and duties, and that is to impress the other creative heads at the studio.
According to claims made by an insider at WB, theSuicide Squadproducer is going to have to mingle with the other filmmakers at DC, and Gunn is also expected to do the same.“Safran needs to win over all the other filmmakers,”the insider source stated.

Peter Safran has to impress The Rock before implementing his vision
Dwayne Johnsonhad previously hinted towards an impending change in hierarchy and order at DC Studios. And now that Gunn and Safran have to win the approval of the other creative heads as a part of their installation as CEOs, fans have acquired clarity on The Rock’s subtle indications.
But the tricky part about this whole situation is the rocky relationship that the Black Adam star and Peter Safran have. No pun intended.

Safran’sShazam!had a deleted scene that featured a potentialBlack Adamsequel but Johnson along with the movie’s producers Dany and Hiram Garcia had ensured that his anti-hero would remain on a different plane from that of his rival character. So with the already existing tension between Safran and Johnson, things are bound to get a little difficult, and even more so now that the British-American filmmaker has to get theRed Noticestar’s approval. And because Safran shares the title of CEO with Gunn, the latter has to do the same as well.

“Dwayne Johnson’s thinly veiled disdain for ‘Shazam’ means he probably isn’t loving the idea that his boss is now the guy that produces ‘Shazam,'”the insider further added.“Safran is pretty diplomatic, so I think he will pull it off but it won’t be easy.”
It’s certainly going to be an adventure watching the two get things on the right footing after having the air of unspoken dissent between them. And their equation holds such value because that will also further chart the course for various DC projects in the future.
