Quentin Tarantino

All filmmakers have criteria they follow in order to recruit the best people to bring their characters to life. After all, a cast can easily make or break the film. Quentin Tarantino, too, has a requirement he needs to be fulfilled before hiring actresses for his movies. The renowned filmmaker only, and only hires those actresses whom he adores. There has to be an attraction between him and the actress, he must be, to a degree, in love with her, and no, he does not mean it in a s*xual way.

When Elle asked Tarantino if it was“absolutely necessary to want to have s*x”with the leading women, the filmmaker stated,

“I don’t know if s*x is the right word. If someone is playing my character, I have to be in love with her to some degree. It’s not so much about lust, but I have to adore her.”

Tarantino also stated that there is no way he would fall in love with a woman who does not like his movies. He stated that his whole life is about his art and that to reject him as an artist would be equal to rejecting him as a whole.

Female Collaborators Praise Quentin Tarantino

While Tarantino’s depictions of women in his films might not sit right with some people, the women who have worked with him sing a different song. Zoë Bell has worked with Tarantino for a long time sinceKill Billwhere she was a stuntwoman for Thurman. In the documentaryQT8: The First Eight,Bell speaks up about Tarantino’s films and their representation of women, calling him a priceless ally.

“That’s the thing with Quentin’s dialogue. A couple of men would be like. ‘Well women don’t really talk like that.’ And I was like, ‘Oh that’s cute because we really do.’ Women would come up to us and be like, ‘Is he a woman on the inside?’And yeah, he’s kind of a woman on the inside.”

Bell continued that Tarantino does not need to vouch for women getting all kinds of roles when he is making it possible with his work. Bell called Tarantino a“priceless ally.”

ActressLucy Liu, who was part ofKill Bill, echoed Bell’s words as she stated that Tarantino did not need to highlight or billboard having women in strong roles. She added that“for him, it’s just natural.”Jennifer Jason Leighalso chimed in stating that the director“writes women like nobody’s business.”Well, clearly, women who have worked with Tarantino have a ton of respect for him.
