Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3was released in theaters on June 15, 2025. Fans were treated to another epic story, as filmmaker James Gunn delivered yet another superhero blockbuster. Since its release, there have been numerous fan speculations and comments floating around the internet about the likelihood of Nebula romancing Star-Lord in the film.
Star-Lord bonded with Gamora after they fought for the power stone, but now fans are hoping for a love triangle involving Star-Lord, Gamora, and Nebula.

Karen Gillian thinks Nebula has a crush on Star-Lord
Star-Lord is played byChris Prattin the film, and until the unfortunate events ofAvengers: Infinity War,he had a connection with Gamora, the character played byZoe Saldana. The romantic core of theGuardiansfranchise has been Star-Lord and Gamora, but fans will be even more pleased if Nebula appears in this love frame.Karen Gillian, who plays the role of Nebula in the franchise,mentioned that her character Nebula has had a crush on Pratt’s character Star-Lord for years.

I think it makes sense in a sort of Bad girl as a secret crush on the good boy.buuuut the way she’s portrayed in the movie is sort of like the big mean sister of the guardians and I think it should stay that way.But now that the OG guardians broke up… could be interesting.

When Gamora says that it sounded like Quill was describing Nebula when he was talking about the Gamora he knew, and he comments about how dark Neb’s eyes are and her response and both of their reactions make it seem like they are both attracted to each other.

I think her crush stems from the fact that she has grown enough to realize how much of a monster she was when she was with Thanos. Gamora was the same and Peter fell in love with her. She hopes to one day find someone that can see beyond her past and actually love her.

Karen Gillian says her character Nebula is like a mean schoolgirl
Gillian talked about how her character Nebula is linked to the protagonist of the movie Star-Lord. The 35-year-old accepted that Nebula might have a crush on Star-Lord, but she will never express her love. While talking about Star-Lord and Nebula’s love factor, Gillian said,
“I never thought about fully going there, but do I think that Nebula, emotionally, is sort of that mean schoolgirl who’s not going to show her feelings to anybody? Karen thinks that Nebula has a little bit of a crush on Quill that she doesn’t quite know how to put together, and it makes sense because as we come to them in Vol. 3.”
She further added,
“We realize that they are the two leaders of the Guardians. I think it’s very normal in any close friendship to have some sort of occasional romantic or crush-like feelings.”

More fans have come out in favor of the uncertain romantic relationship between Nebula and Star-Lord after Gillian aka Nebula spoke candidly about how the character would feel in her opinion. Gunn understands that viewers and fans ofGuardians of the Galaxywant to see Nebula and Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord, develop a romantic relationship. Gunn nor any of the creators have not yet commented on this, but the buzz is growing online.
