When they starred together in their legendary movieThe Godfather, viewers were instantly drawn to their on-screen chemistry. BothAl PacinoandDiane Keatonwere rising stars at that time and their relationship naturally drew a lot of attention from the media. After having dated for five long years, fans were shocked to know about their breakup since they appeared to be very much in love.
Diane Keaton, who has always been very open and vocal about her relationships and personal life, revealed that she was the one to break it off for a strange yet heartbreaking reason. In her memoir she mentions how among the numerous leading men and partners, Al Pacino has always been the one she would want to marry. She also stated in her memoir,
“For me the Godfathers, all three of them, were about one thing – Al. It was as simple as that.”
However, Pacino never saw them settled down or married anytime in the future, which eventually led to their breakup.
“He was even less inclined to be realistic than me. And I was on the cusp of being very old. So that poor guy. I don’t think he was really that interested. And I don’t think a long-term happy marriage would be easy for him.”
And hence Keaton moved on with her life.

Diane Keaton Would Never Date Again
Being the style icon she is and playing the leading lady for decades, Diane Keaton is not inclined to find love anymore. In a recent interview, the actress revealed how she doesn’t see herself in any relationship and that she is truly happy being single.
“I don’t date. Highly unlikely. I don’t remember anyone calling me, going, ‘This is So-and-So, I’d like to take you out.’ They don’t happen. Of course not.”
Instead she would rather spend her time with her two kids, whom she adopted late in life, and her dog, which was a gift from a friend.
“A friend of mine gave her to me. I didn’t even ask for her. He came to me and said, ‘I think you need this dog.’ I was like, ‘Okay, I guess?’ Of course, now I just love her. Dogs are irresistible. They’re just idiots. Reggie is a big jerk, and she’s hilarious.”
