In November 2022,James GunnandPeter Safrantook over DC studios, and in January 2023, they officially canceled plans for a potentialWonder Womanthreequel. This sent fans into a frenzy aboutGal Gadot’s fate in the new DCU. At the same time, speculations also arose about other actresses being considered for the role.

“Well, I feel like Gal Gadot is doing a great job. I think she should keep doing that.”

Whether de Armas would be suited for the Wonder Woman role is a question for another time, but theWar Dogsactress was not wrong about Gal Gadot. The studio under James Gunn also appeared to have realized this, as they have retained theHeart of Stoneactress as DCU’s Wonder Woman.

Gal Gadot Will Continue Playing Wonder Woman In DCU
Following the announcement of DCU, the studio faced criticism for several of its creative decisions. One of the controversial decisions was letting go of actorsHenry CavillandBen Affleck, who were headlining the DCEU as Superman and Batman, respectively. However, the studio surprisingly retained Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot confirmed this news in an interview withFlaunt:
“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
This decision fulfilled the wishes of fans as well as that of Ana de Armas. However, nothing is yet confirmed about the rebootedWonder Womanand its characters. No newWonder Womanfilm has been announced forGods and Monsters, the first chapter of DCU. Meanwhile, Gadot is busy focusing on her next role as the Evil Queen inSnow White.
