However, this success is the product of years of hard work which didn’t come easy to her. She recalled filming an intimate scene with actor, Mark Wahlberg which was not a pleasant experience for her.

Reese Witherspoonin a new interview withHarper’s Bazaar shed light on her experience filming a s*x scene with co-star, Mark Wahlberg in 1996’sFearwhen she was just 19 years old. Her character, Nicole Walker was engaged in an intimate moment on a roller coaster with the latter’s character, David McCall who was her love interest in the film.

She recalled that the scene was quite intimate as it even involved org-sm which was initially not in the script.
Reminiscing about that time, she shared,“I didn’t have control over it.”

She continued,
“It wasn’t explicit in the script that that’s what was going to happen, so that was something that I think the director thought of on his own and then asked me on set if I would do it.”

She found the situation uncomfortable stating,
“And I said no. It wasn’t a particularly great experience.”
She admitted that the experience was not great however it prepared her for what women have to face in the acting industry.

Though she asserted that the incident was not traumatizing for her, she also shared how it shaped her opinion on being a woman in the industry.
“I’m certainly not traumatised or anything by it, but it was formative.”
“It made me understand where my place was in the pecking order of filmmaking.”
She further how this incident shaped her to be an agent of change.
“I think it’s another one of those stories that made me want to be an agent for change and someone who can maybe be in a better leadership position to tell stories from a female perspective instead of from the male gaze.”
The film since then got cult status with the then-young duo getting acknowledged as teen idols giving further prominence to them.
