Michael Bay recounted his initial experience working alongside Sean Connery. At the time, Bay was relatively new to the industry, whereas Connery was a seasoned veteran with a long list of credits.

They were filming an interrogation scene, andMichael Bay, feeling a bit overwhelmed, was hesitant to offer direction to Connery. After the first take, Bay gathered his courage and realized he needed to provide guidance, even to a legendary actor like Connery. Bay asked, “Um, Sean, can you just say that less charming?”Connery replied,“Sure boy. Sure boy.”

He described the chief figure as someone with a disdain for directors, referring to him as a “director eater.” One vivid memory from that period was him kneeling, likely due to the less-than-stellar special effects during the production ofThe Rock.

Ben Affleck Didn’t Understand Michael Bay’s Vision

In a DVD commentary for the movie, Affleck reminisced about raising some inquiries with Michael Bay regarding the film’s plot, only to have Bay swiftly dismiss his questions.

“I asked Michael why it was easier to train oil drillers to become astronauts than it was to train astronauts to become oil drillers, and he told me to shut the fuck up. So that was the end of that talk. [Does Michael Bay voice] ‘You know, Ben, just shut up, OK? You know, this is a real plan.’ I was like, ‘You mean it’s a real plan at NASA to train oil drillers?’ And he was like, ‘Just shut your mouth!'”

Although Affleck had difficulty deciphering certain scenes in the film, fans had no qualms whatsoever. In fact, the movie enjoyed widespread success, garnering acclaim from both critics and raking in substantial commercial profits.
