James Bond is one of those names that strike an image of a well-dressed gentleman with a handsome face and dashing personality that just oozes out that alpha-male persona from anyone who is called by that name. Over the years, many of Hollywood’s greatest names like Sean Conney, George Lazenby, and Pierce Brosnan have all felt honoured to play the British superspy in one of the greatest and most prestigious film franchises in the world, with the Bond movies being produced for more than half a century.

Thus, it will be an understatement to call losing such an esteemed one of the biggest losses in an actor’s career.
But this was exactly what happened with the current Man Of Steel star, who was on the verge of becoming the next 007 but lost the role to the current star who holds the James Bond name and has been playing the character since 2006.

How Henry Cavill Lost James Bond To Daniel Craig
Henry Cavilladmitted the fact that he was one of the top contenders to play the next James Bond in the upcoming films on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast that he was considered the ‘unluckiest man in Hollywood’ after losing out the role of James Bond. Cavill lost this role to the very talentedDaniel Craig, who has been wearing the Bond name like a medal for years after his appearance in 2006’sCasino Royale.
Henry Cavill was one of the top choices to play the iconic role of the British spy, James Bond, in the 2006 hitCasino Royale, but theWitcherstar has recently revealed that he “wasn’t ready” to take on the coveted role of 007 in theJames Bondmovies. Now Cavill believes that the producers made the right choice.

“They told me I was close. They told me it was ultimately down to, and this is what I’ve been told, it was just down to me and Daniel [Craig], and I was the younger option.”
He further added:
“They obviously went with Daniel and I think it was an amazing choice to go with Daniel. It was a fun adventure at the time, and definitely gave me a boost to my career. That was the key element of it.”
James Bond is a character that has gone through a lot over the years and has always been shown to be played by an actor that looks like a seasoned veteran with years of experience on the field, something that only actors with a vintage face and that mature presence are able to execute with the natural flow to compliment the character of the superspy. Thus, it didn’t come as a big surprise either to the audience or to Henry Cavill that Daniel Craig became the choice to play Agent 007 inCasino Royale.

Will Henry Cavill Return As James Bond?
It was hard to see Daniel Craig resign from the post of James Bond after he said that he would be performing his last act as Agent 007 in 2021’sNo Time To Die.After the film’s release, the audience saw new hopes for Henry Cavill as the top contender to play Bond yet again. after his thrilling performance as a super agent inThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.,people were convinced that Cavill was now up to the task to hold his place as the next 007. But recently, it seems like Cavill has moved past the role to play James Bond in the upcoming films of the future. Recently, there have been rumors that there are a plethora of stars that have been shortlisted to play Bond, but Henry Cavill does not seem to be on top of the list anywhere, which further strengthens the suspicions.
Thus, we might not be clear about the next Bond, but we do know it would be yet another star that would join the prestigiousJames Bondfamily.
