Josh Brolin Rejected James Cameron’sAvatar

The sequel to the highest-grossing film,Avatar, was released last year and soon joined its predecessor as the third highest-grossing film of all time. Considering the 2009 sci-fi movie’s success at the box office, it would be hard to assume that any actor would reject the offer to star in the film series.

However,Josh Brolindid not seem too interested in the project whenJames Cameronapproached him with the offer. During an interview with Esquire, he shared that he received an offer to star in Cameron’s sequel to the 2009 hit film.

However, he was not interested in the offer and rejected the opportunity to star in theAvatarsequel.“If I don’t want to do Avatar. I’m not going to do Avatar,”he said. TheSicarioactor also admitted that his decision led to some tension between him and theAvatardirector.

“James Cameron’s f*cking calling me this name and that name. Whatever.”And this is not the only film Brolin rejected. Before Avatar, he rejected another movie that was closely associated with theTitanicdirector.

James Cameron established theTerminatorfranchise with the 1984 film starringArnold Schwarzenegger. However, he left the franchise after making two films. Since then, multiple directors have shared their vision with the film series, which includes Jonathan Mostow, McG, Alan Taylor, and Tim Miller.

McG directed the fourth installment in the series, and Josh Brolin was reportedly in talks to join the cast as Marcus Wright. However, he rejected this offer as well, and the role eventually went to theAvatarstar Sam Worthington. During an interview, he shared that he read the script, which was“really dark and cool and interesting.”
