GTA 6‘s trailer is already making headlines within two days of uploading. The one-and-a-half-minute debut trailer has broken several records and is now the most-viewed YouTube non-music video within 24 hours. The trailer dethroned Mr. Beast to overtake the top spot.
One of the most notable features ofGTA 6is the series’ first-ever female protagonist, Lucia, who was one of the major highlights of the trailer. While there have been female playable avatars in the firstGTAtitle, Lucia is voiced and has a personality.
This makes it a milestone for the action-adventure series in terms of inclusion and gender neutrality. When the trailer was revealed, some users on the internet were seen visibly gushing over Lucia. Some took to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their admiration for her.
Internet Simps Strike Again as Lucia Has People Enchanted in GTA 6 Trailer
The trailer was revealed and was uploaded on YouTube much earlier than it was supposed to be due to the leaks that occurred, fans had primarily positive reactions to the trailer. Some people weren’t amused with the trailer and complained that it looked similar toGTA 5.
Fans expressed their opinions on social media websites like Twitter andReddit. As expected, fans reacted to Lucia, as seen in the trailer. Fans were seen visibly“simping”over her as fans praised Lucia’s enchanting, good looks.
We know from the trailer that the game will have a sequence where Lucia will be seen doing time inside prison. Whether it will be a flashback sequence, the game’s ending, or something else it is unknown due to the lack of information on the subject. But Lucia has already begun attracting individuals with her charm as people cannot seem to get enough of her from the trailer as evident from social media posts.

Apart from gushing over how good-looking Lucia is as per most people. Some people are actually gearing up to see the kind of character arc she receives which is much more appropriate. This is because characters, especially protagonists inGTAare very layered, detailed and nuanced characters who evolve through your playthrough.

The games have been famous for an inappropriate depiction of women and sometimes indirect objectification. Some serious steps need to be taken inGTA 6to ensure that this issue is taken care of.
This is something which is obviously looked down and is frowned upon in today’s day and age. The last iteration ofGrand Theft Autocame out in 2013. The world is a different place than it was at the time of its release.
We have become more sensible, mature and tolerant as society. While it is no surprise that just like otherGTAgames,GTA 6will be surrounded by controversy and opposition in some way, it is expected that it will be much more wary of social and cultural norms on inclusivity when it launches in 2025.
The tweets and posts embedded above are a testament to the fact that while Rockstar has broken new ground by introducing Lucia as one of the protagonists in the game, people are only taking her looks into consideration. After all, there is so much more to a protagonist than their looks. All of this begs the question if there hadn’t been a female protagonist in the game, would people still be judging them based on their looks only?
It does not take more than a few searches to find that people who are genuinely curious about Lucia as a character are much less as compared to people on social media simping over her. The entire point of introducing a female protagonist should be to treat her the same as you would treat any otherGTAseries protagonist, but that doesn’t seem the case currently.GTA 6has a tentative release date of 2025 and comes out for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 at launch.
