Director Warned Demi Moore For Her Behavior
Demi Moore’spresence on set while under the influence of alcohol and drugs was evident, and her reputation as a “party girl” in Hollywood preceded her. Nevertheless,Joel Schumacher, the late director of the film, staunchly refused to tolerate her perilous conduct during the production.
Although Schumacher couldn’t envision anyone else in the role of Jules, he couldn’t condone Moore’s “wild child” conduct. On a particular occasion, the young star arrived intoxicated and under the influence of substances during a costume fitting. As recounted in the Brat Pack memoir,You Couldn’t Ignore Me If You tried, Schumacher took her aside for a private conversation.
Carl Kurlander, the film’s co-writer, said (viaCheatsheet):
“Joel has been very public about the fact that when he was in his early twenties, he had some drug issues and had to clean up, and survived. And so he said to her, ‘Go kill yourself on somebody else’s movie. I’m not going to let you be on this movie and kill yourself.'”
This pivotal moment ultimately prompted Moore to embark on the path to sobriety. Following the intervention, she chose to enter a rehabilitation facility, marking the start of her recovery journey. Remarkably, she remained free from substance abuse for more than two decades.

Demi Moore’s Daughters Cut All Ties With Her
Demi Moore’s daughter was questioned about her three-year silence from her mother, and her response revealed that she had been apprehensive and felt insecure in her mother’s presence.
In a candid Red Table Talk with the Smith family, Demi Moore’s children shared their experiences of estrangement from their mother. Rumer, the eldest daughter, mentioned maintaining an open line of communication with her mother, while Tallulah and Scout disclosed that they had ceased communication with her for a period of three years.
According to her daughters, Moore underwent a transformation during her marriage to Ashton Kutcher, and they perceived her as a different mother than the one they had known. They expressed feeling abandoned by the actress, believing that she prioritized her relationship with Kutcher over her relationship with them.
One of her daughters also disclosed that when Moore was experiencing difficulties conceiving another child, and it wasn’t successful, she expressed a desire to give up on life when her children ceased contact with her.
