Marvel’sSpider-Man 2has been released for just over a week and the hype that surrounded it saw the game sell 2.5 million copies of the game in the first 24 hours of release. However, like most highly anticipated titles of late, it was not without issue and has seen some much-publicised bugs highlighted by fans worldwide.
Whilst the bugs that have been experienced were nowhere near the level that met expectantCyberpunk 2077fans back in 2020, they still served to upset those hardcore fans who had waited so long to experience the latest chapter in the Peter Parker storyline. However, it appears that one bug has been popular with fans to the extent that many miss it now that it has been removed.
Why are fans missing the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ‘cube’ bug?
The ‘Spider-Cube’ in Marvel’sSpider-Man 2appeared to be a subject of much ridicule for many upon launch but now the majority of those players who have experienced it, have embraced it for what it is. A simple bug that doesn’t inconvenience the gameplay that much. Is it annoying? Possibly. Does it deserve to have the Devs lambasted? Not in the slightest.
Many players have commented that they have not yet experienced the popular ‘Spider-Cube’ bug which sees the Spider-Man character replaced with a solid white box and for those players, you may have missed out slightly. This appears to be one of those hilarious bugs that fans will reminisce over for years to come.
Fans have reported experiencing other issues with the game, one in which the torsos of Peter Parker and Miles Morales have disappeared, leaving just heads and limbs with players commenting that this was quite ‘creepy’. However, it appears that the ‘Spider-Cube’ has won the hearts of the majority of fans, many designing their cubes adorned with the Spider-Man logo.
Developers Insomniac Games saw the funny side of the bug and the popularity it had garnered with fans of Marvel’sSpider-Man 2. Introducing a patch on 26 October, they took to social media the same day with a tongue-in-cheekpostshowing emojis of a grave and a white box. The reference to the ‘Spider-Cube’ having (at the time of writing), amassed 39k likes, nearly 3k retweets, and over 1k comments.
As can be expected, there were some hilarious responses to this post with many fans highlighting just how popular the bug was and how they hope that ‘Spider-Cube’ will return in future titles.

Some fans have been commenting that they would like to see the bug as an unlockable skin in some future DLC. Could we see it happen? It’s entirely plausible given the reaction.
However, it appears that some people are still experiencing the ‘Spider-Cube’ bug in Marvel’sSpider-Man 2, despite the recent patch. To those players, we say enjoy it while it lasts, as it won’t be around for long, and given the number of comments from players who feel they have missed out on this, the ones who still have the bug can count themselves lucky.
Whilst we have come to expect issues with games as of late, it is refreshing to see that fans have taken this one to heart and made light of it, rather than being overly critical of the Devs who spent countless hours on this latest web-slinging adventure. There may be a small minority who will still criticise it but now that a patch has been introduced, most fans will remember it fondly.
