Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf shared the screen in 2010 when they starred inWall Street: Money Never Sleeps.A sequel to the 1987 classic film, Douglas reprised his role as Gordon Gekko and Carey Mulligan portrayed the role of his daughter, Winnie Gekko.
Shia LaBeouf’s character was romantically involved with Winnie Gekko as they both became engaged in the 2010 film. As fate would have it, LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan went on to date in real life, something which Michael Douglas, Mulligan’s on-screen father, had warned Shia LaBeouf against!

Michael Douglas andShia LaBeoufportrayed the roles of would-be father and son-in-law in the 2010 filmWall Street: Money Never Sleeps.In the movie, LaBeouf’s character is engaged to Carey Mulligan’s character.

During the filming of the movie, LaBeouf and Mulligan went on to date each other and enjoy a brief relationship. Before dating, however,Ant-Manstar Michael Douglas warned LaBeouf against dating his on-screen daughter. In an interview with theIrish Examiner,Douglas warned LaBeouf not to date while citing a rule to never date the leading lady!
“I warned Shia about that. I told him, ‘Do not get involved with your leading lady. Trust me. Whatever you do, don’t do that,’”
Despite Douglas warning LaBeouf against dating the leading lady, theTransformeractor had stated that he did not want to lose her at all. Stating that he had a lot of opportunities, the actor thought that it would work out but in the end, it did not.

Essentially calling himself a womanizer, LaBeouf had once stated in an interview withGQ(before his break-up) that he didn’t want to end things with Carey Mulligan. Praising the actress for being one of a kind, LaBeouf had hoped that Carey Mulligan would last a lifetime.
“I never really had anything in my life that was off-limits. But with this, just out of respect, I just don’t want to fck around. She’s an unbelievably thought-provoking actress, the most talented actress I’ve ever met in my life, by leaps and bounds. Neither one of us are fame whres. It works out. It’s not like we’re the premiere couple; we’re not the red-carpet king and queen.”
Shia LaBeouf went on to date and eventually marry Mia Goth in 2016 and both have been happily married since then. As for Carey Mulligan, she went on to marry Marcus Mumford in 2012.
