You should get the Caretaker Sword because it is a solar Adaptive that is easily acquired and uniquely (as of Season of Defiance) rolls with Incandescent. Solar weapons pair excellently with solar subclass builds, and Caretaker is no exception with its ability to roll with the Incandescent perk. How to Get Caretaker in Destiny?
To get Caretaker in Destiny 2, players will need to own Season of Defiance and complete the “Awaken, Queensguard” mission. This will open up the Seasonal Playlist, Defiant Battlegrounds, which drops all of the Season of Defiance weapons including Caretaker. Defiant Battlegrounds have a chance to drop Caretaker or another Defiant weapon or Armor Piece. You can use a Defiant Key to also get a Resonant version of Defiant weapons as well. The Defiant Battlegrounds playlist is found on the HELM.

Masterwork:Swords can only get more Impact with their Masterwork, which honestly is fine. More damage is always a good thing.
Mod:Having more ammo with a sword is always a good thing, so Backup Mag is always a solid choice. Opt for a Boss Spec Mod if you need to do a lot of burst damage instead.

Column 3 Perk: There are no stellar perk choices for PvP on the Caretaker, but the best options are those that help your block game. Since ammo is scarce and damage is next to irrelevant since swords almost always one tap, finding fun little combinations is where swords shine in PvP. Energy Transfer gets more class ability energy back on a block and that is always useful.
Column 4 Perk: Valiant Charge needs to be tested but blocking getting more lunge range means an enemy shooting someone with Caretaker could actually help the sword wielder win the dual. Block and then attack to ruin an opponent’s day.
Mod:For mods we want to use Quick Access Sling for draw time on the base version of the weapon.
Swords are rarely used in PvP anymore since the removal of peeking using 3rd person, but they can sometimes be used to great effect when opponents are caught off guard. Using a sword in PvP, really comes down to personal preference.
