Daredevil: Born Againis one of the most highly anticipated Marvel Disney+ shows. The show will mark the return of Charlie Cox as the titular hero and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin among others. Among those confirmed to be returning from the Netflix Marvel shows is Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. Bernthal’s anti-hero was loved by many because he was a fearsome opponent to Daredevil.
Fans loved seeing Punisher go toe-to-toe with Cox’s hero in terms of fighting style and ideologies. However, it is these ideologies that caused trouble when several fans who are members of law enforcement took things too far by aligning themselves with the fictional anti-hero. However, as per new reports, this will be addressed inDaredevil: Born Again.
Punisher On A Rampage Against Real-World Police
As per Twitter user and reputed film insider, CanWeGetSomeToast,Daredevil: Born Againwill make a statement against those in law enforcement who have adopted thePunisheras their idol. The scooper said that Jon Bernthal’s anti-hero isn’t going to be happy about cops misusing his skull symbol.

As per the industry insider:
“Got confirmation from the set of #DaredevilBornAgain on the scenes that #Punisher shot this week. He is NOT a fan of some cops misusing his logo. He takes matters into his own hands when he encounters some racist cops ‘You and I are not the same.'”

Reports of cops and various members of law enforcement using Punisher’s logo as their identity have been making the rounds for about half a decade now. It has been popularly theorized that it’s a sort of escapist fantasy for them since Frank Castle is a traumatized veteran who goes around shooting criminals away.
It certainly makes for great emotional release and doesn’t create any problems when it’s limited to fantasy and fiction. But trouble begins when cops love the symbol and essentially adopt the ideology of the character in their real life and line of work. Thankfully, not everyone agrees with it, like the creator of the character or the actor who plays him.

Jon Bernthal Speaks Out About The Misuse Of Punisher’s Logo
If this insider report turns out to be true, then it won’t be the first time Frank Castle has confronted the people who idolize him and his methodology. Even the creator of the character, comic book writer Gerry Conway, previously slammed police for adopting the symbol of the vigilante. He said in a Syfy interview:
“The vigilante anti-hero is fundamentally a critique of the justice system, an example of social failure, so when cops put Punisher skulls on their cars or members of the military wear Punisher skull, they’re basically sides with an enemy of the system… Whether you think the Punisher is justified or not, whether you admire his code of ethics, he is an outlaw. He is a criminal. Police should not be embracing a criminal as their symbol.”

ActorJon Bernthalhas also spoken out about the people who adopt his character’s way of justice. After retweeting a fanart of his character, the actor stated:
“Beautiful work. These people are misguided, lost, and afraid. They have nothing to do with what Frank stands for or is about. Big Love.”

Even Marvel comics have addressed the people and cops who have adopted Frank Castle’s ideology. InPunisher #13comic by Matthew Rosenberg and Szymon Kudranski, Frank Castle encounters cops who idolize him. But instead of encouraging them, he tells them that they are supposed to uphold the law and that if they need a role model, Captain America is always there. It now remains to be seen how the show handles this controversial topic.
Daredevil: Born Againwill be released on Disney+ in early 2024.
