What Is The New Daisy Ridley LedStar WarsFilm About?
In an interview with IGN, Lucasfilm PresidentKathleen Kennedyprovided hints about the direction the new film takes. According to her, the new film will be set 15 years after the events ofRise of Skywalkerand the story will explore Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order based on the teachings found in the books. Kennedy explained toIGN:
“Well, we’re 15 years out from ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ so we’re post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray. There’s a lot of discussion around, ‘Who are the Jedi? What are they doing? What’s the state of the galaxy?’ She’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books… based on what she promised Luke. So, that’s where we’re going.”
Kennedy also shut down one of the fan rumors about the film. It was speculated thatMark Hamillwould possibly return as a Force ghost in the new film after a de-aged Hamill appeared inThe Mandalorian. Kennedy revealed that the film will focus on Daisy Ridley’s character and the new world order, rather than dwelling on flashbacks or Force ghosts.
