WhenDevil May Cryfirst came out as a videogame series back in 2001, it was an ultimate hit, loved by fans from all across the world. Following its commendable success, a Japanese animated series was created on it years later in 2007, which turned into an even more epic masterpiece. So when over a decade later, producer and screenwriter Adi Shankar dropped the bomb that he was going forward with anotherDMCNetflix series project, fans were nothing less than ecstatic.

This news also brought forth Chris Pratt’s confirmed casting to voice the male protagonist Dante. However, in an unseen turn of events, showrunner Shanker has seemingly confirmed that fans wouldn’t be hearing the MCU star’s voice for their favorite character.

Producer cum screenwriter Adi Shankar is renowned for his superhit anime seriesCastlevania.So when he announced taking the lead in creating the upcoming Netflix animated seriesDevil May Cry, fans were anticipating the arrival of the series pretty eagerly.

Back in November 2018, Shankar revealed in an interview withIGNthat he had acquired all animation rights for DMC IP himself, citing the reason as:
“So that the jabronies in Hollywood can’t f**k this one up too.”

During another interview withIGN Japana little over three years later, theCastlevaniashowrunner talked details about the upcoming series.
“The season 1 scripts are done,” Shankar said. “They are rad. I could not be more excited.”

Continuing, he explained how the series wouldn’t conclude with only season one, which will consist of a total of eight episodes, but rather will be“a multi-season arc,”i.e. one whose story will unfold over its several connected seasons. He also revealed the characters that fans will be able to see in the series:
“I can confirm that Vergil is in it, as well as Lady, and of course Dante as well.”
However, then came the twist, for Adi Shankar’s next detail aboutDevil May Cryanime put fans under much confusion about Chris Pratt’s involvement in the series and voicing their favorite character Dante.

Chris Pratt Won’t Be Voicing Dante InDevil May CryAnime?
Continuing in the interview withIGN Japan, Shankar made a bizarre claim about the MCU star voicing Dante. He said:
“I can also confirm that Chris Pratt won’t be voicing any of the characters.”
However, he only said this as a joke becauseChris Prattalready had a ton of animation projects on his hands at the time. This included his superhit animated filmThe Super Mario Bros., in which he voiced the fan-favorite character, Mario. Furthermore, he is currently working on the upcomingGarfieldanimated movie as well, in which Pratt will be giving his voice to the ginger cat.
Netflix has officially announced the‘coming soon’of the series onYouTubeas well. Though no official release date has been confirmed for it yet, judging from Netflix’s update, fans may expect to see their favoriteDevil May Cryanime pretty soon. Until then, hang on for more updates!
