The actor recently mentioned that he would be retiring from film acting after a couple of more films. This news made fans worry about the actor’s potential return to the Marvel franchise, especially since an Amazon series on Spider-Man Noir is currently in development.

Nicolas Cage Announces Retirement Plans
Legendary actorNicolas Cagehas been going strong for the past few years, with multiple films released regularly. The actor has been experimenting with his roles, moving away from the typical action star image that he has garnered in his forty-year career. In the past two years, Cage has starred in films such asPig, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Dream Scenario,andRenfieldamong others.
Recently, while talking about his filmDream Scenario, Cage announced that he would prefer to retire after appearing in three or four films. He mentioned that he was nearing an age where he wanted to spend more time with his family and would try to learn a new form of acting.

In an interview withUproxxabout the current state of his career, Cage said,

“I feel that I’ve, at this point – after 45 years of doing this; that in over 100 movies – I feel I’ve pretty much said what I’ve had to say with cinema. And I’d like to leave on a high note and say, ‘Adios’…I mean, I am going to be very severe and very astringent on the selection process moving forward…I do want to explore other formats.”
TheLeaving Las Vegasstar also mentioned that he would be open to trying TV acting as the space was at a point where it was interesting for him.

Amazon’s Spider-Man Noir Show Would Squash Nicolas Cage’s Return To Marvel
According toVariety, Sony Pictures would be moving forward with a live-action series based on the Spider-Man Noir character. The studio reportedly hiredThe Punishercreator Steve Lightfoot as the co-showrunner along with Oren Uziel. The series is said to be developed at Amazon and will be streaming on Prime Video.
The report also stated that the team would be looking at a character other than Peter Parker in the series. The news disappointed fans as it would mean that Nicolas Cage, who voiced the Peter Parker iteration of the character in theSpider-versefilms, would not be returning to play the character. With Cage talking about retirement, the dream of Cage being in Marvel again will remain a dream.
Nicolas Cage has also played Ghost Rider in Fox Studio-produced films before and with the character now being part of the MCU, there were speculations that the actor might return. Cage too has not ruled out the possibility, saying that a really good script or role would make him come back. However, there has been no update on aGhost Riderfilm.
