Fortnitemay just be one of the most divisive video games out there, with opinions among the gaming community ranging from absolutely adoring it to completely loathing it. However, it is just not possible to deny the pop cultural influence it has had since its launch more than six years ago, in 2017. Many similar battle royale titles have come and gone, but none of them have been able to hold the kind of long-term relevance that Epic Games has accomplished withFortnite.

This is all mostly owed to the external media collaborations that the developer takes great pride in doing, and why wouldn’t it since it has proven to work time and again? In fact, the game’s latest patch, called Update 26.30, marks the debuts of various horror icons, including Alan Wake, Jack Skellington, and Michael Myers. That too, just in time for Halloween.
Fortnite Drafts Various Horror Icons for the Halloween Season
As mentioned before, Alan Wake is not the only horror icon that is coming to Epic Games’ extremely popularFortnite. There are numerous other iconic scary outfits making appearances during the game’s annual Halloween-themed event. It is undeniably crazy that Alan Wake’s first fresh and proper video game appearance in more than a decade will not be in Remedy’s anticipated sequel,Alan Wake 2, coming out later this month.

In addition to the tons of new information about the latestFortniteupdate, Epic Games also shared a brand new gameplay trailer for the horror celebration. It shows the Halloween-based event in all its glory while also showing exactly how it would look to play as Alan Wake during an intense guns-blazing battle royale. Wake has always had an uncanny resemblance to Keanu Reeves’ John Wick, but seeing him go around holding a gun and shooting everybody around him solidifies the similarity.

Just like Alan Wake, some of the signature items associated with the Pumpkin King will also accompany him, which include the Peppermint Parsol Pickaxe, Jack’s Sled Glider, and of course, the Zero Back Bling. Naturally,Fortnitewould not be able to call its Halloween-themed event truly worthy of the horror season without the inclusion of one of the most iconic scary-movie villains out there, Michael Myers.
He is also coming to Epic Games’ battle royale duringFortnitemares 2023with an outfit and various connected items.
According to the official blog post shared by Epic Games, the event will turn players into vampire hunters as they will have to “match the stakes of Kado Thorne’s threat” with a brand new weapon called the Wood Stake Shotgun. Apparently, that’s not the only thing that the Halloween event is limited to because gamers can “jump into the Horde Rush” as well, which is a “limited-time experience.”
The game’s annual celebration of all things horror will run until the beginning of next month, at 2 AM ET on November 3.
Along with the aforementioned shotgun, the latest update also introduces other weapons and items, including a Vampiric Blade and a literal Pumpkin Launcher.
