The world of DC has been known to be anything but kind to its characters. When it comes to the Flash, however, it’s a whole other story. The metahuman, who is set to be portrayed in his first solo live-action feature outing by Ezra Miller, has suffered tremendous pain and tragedy and yet persevered, in the best possible definition of the word.
With Zack Snyder’s retelling of the Flash’s tale as a new Justice League recruit in the reimagined extended cinematic universe, Miller comes along to the forefront once more as a hero who gives much more than is asked of him, simply because it is what the world needs.

In a recent interview, the production designer of the film, Paul Asterberry who worked closely with the actor and director throughout the making of the movie revealed some lesser-known facts aboutEzra Millerfrom behind the scenes. Despite the action-fueled, emotionally heavy, and long filming schedule, Miller reportedly had hardly taken a leave from the set:
“Miller only had 3 days off for the total shoot – working six days a week and spending Saturdays in stunt rehearsals. So, a lot of pressure.”

The actor’s enthusiasm or dedication that gave them the impetus and drive to show up on set every day for six months of the filming process was hardly the tip of the iceberg compared to the punishing production delaysThe Flashhad to sit through.

For the entirety ofThe Flash’s filming and post-production era, the leading star of the DC movie, Ezra Miller has maintained an increasingly erratic behavior that has more often than not caused the production to go through increasingly tense moments of being threatened with potential cancellation and/or mass boycott.
Throughout the course of filming, the actor leading the star-studded ensemble was barely heard making a noise. It was the sudden rise in their unnervingly chaotic romp around the globe coupled with the resurfaced video footage of assault in Iceland, followed soon after by reports of a cult, a trespassing charge in Berlin, a felony burglary charge in Vermont, and a kidnapping charge, that caused the public to reconsider their favoritism toward the DC actor.

In light of the difficult phase in DC, the renewed and rebooted era underJames Gunnwhich witnesses the introduction of a new Superman and Batman in the mainstream cinematic universe would also be in need of a new Flash down the road. For now, however, Ezra Miller continues to be the resident Scarlet Speedster, and their stay in DC has been acknowledged already by David Zaslav and James Gunn. It remains to be seen whether the praise and support continue to be upheld in the aftermath of the film’s release and following Miller’s journey through the mental health program.
