Starring Rachel Zegler alongside Tom Blyth, the dystopian action film received mixed critical response but praised the cast for their performance. However, the franchise faces a major setback due to his lukewarm performance in China.

Rachel Zegler‘s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,which debuted at $44 million in the domestic market topped the box office bringing an overall worldwide collection of $98.5 million. Meanwhile, the overseas earnings currently stand at $54.5 million.

But, these box-office figures lack much contribution from one nation i.e., China.As perThe Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lawrence’sThe Hunger Gamesprequel became a disappointment in China’s box office as it opened in third place over the weekend with an earnings of $4.6 million. Unlike the prequel, all other Lawrence movies in the franchise performed incredibly well at the box office surging past $100 million in its first weekend.

The previous movies have earned a lot better withThe Hunger Games(2012) earning a total of $27 million at China’s box office. As forThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire(2013), it brought $28 million whileThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1andPart 2brought an overall of $58 million.

“The fact that we’re sitting here at basically $100 million on opening weekend around the world is, I think, a testament to the quality of the movie, the quality of the talent that worked on the movie and a campaign that was both successful and efficient.”
